First up was breakfast, and even though it was an Elf on the Shelf character breakfast, there was an option for no Elf interaction which we went this. The breakfast was a huge buffet style event BUT was incredibly expensive ( a theme with Gaylord Palms) - I think it was about $30 each or £25 !
Our flight isn't until 7pm tonight, or so we thought, and we pack until it's time for us to be booted out of the room at 11am, and then we drive to Disney Springs for the Virgin check-in. It's absolutely chucking it down this morning and as we check-in, that's when we find out about the drone problems at Gatwick. I really feel for others who have turned up for the Gatwick flight only to be told at least a 5 hour delay. Anyhow we pay our $10 for the privilege, and now we need to kill time.
We go to Homecoming restaurant for food and I have a lovely Grouper sandwich, me make the meal last as long as possible, to stay out of the rain. We do some shopping for a few more bits and pieces before deciding there's nothing more to do, other than head to the airport and get a few beers in.
The weather isn't letting up and the drive to the airport is tricky, it turns out that nearly all flights into and out of Orlando have significant delays and the traffic around the airport reflects this, there's quite a tailback but we eventually get into the airport and it looks like we have a 1.5 hour delay. Oh Well !! . We eventually end up in the bar at Outback, after catching a tram to the wrong terminal, and just sit back and relax. My upgrade bid of £500 for upper class was rejected and so it won't be a luxury flight home
Eventually we are boarding, and there is some chaos with connecting flights being delayed plus a move to get some of the Gatwick passengers home, but we are son seated and having a nice fizzy wine before the 8 hr flight home.
jumping forward about 10 hours, I'm loading the car at Manchester airport and we are soon on the road for a very tiring 3 hour drive home. The holiday is over, we are knackered but happy..now what about Christmas, gulp and panic !!
