Not that much to add to what has already been said on previous days, the whole point of the last days in Franschhoek was to kick back and relax and that's what the wine trams are all about. Breakfast today was indoors, it's a bit of a dull start to the day and it only gets worse as the day progresses. No let up in the sleep pattern, we are first to the dining area and are soon on the road into town to pick up the grey wine tram. Luka has given us some recommendations of which wine farms to visit, however when we get to the wine tram we find that the route has changed and her recommendations are for a different route .
Today's tram is a late starter, it's a 10 start so we really need to get up to speed to maximise our drinking opportunities
The first winery is a specialist in champagne, which isn't my cup of wine at all, but to keep the trip moving I neck it anyhow. It's cold and dark but the fires are burning in the wineries and all of the tastings are been done indoors. For the next tasting we need to hop off the wine bus and onto the wine tram, and what a treat. It's already being boarded by a tribe of crazy people from Japan/China and they really are a joy to behold.
I watch in bewilderment as they take thousands of photos and selfies and drag each other backwards and forwards to make sure everyone appears in everyone else's photos. It's wildlife at it's finest. The highlight is the guy who both videos and then takes 20 photos of an empty wine glass. They seem so excited by the ttram that they don't even take a sip of their free wine
We stop here for lunch and it's a real top notch meal, we really are out of place in this restaurant, we should have stayed in the area where you taste the wines but no one blinks an eyelid at the fact we are dressed in shorts and tee shirts, that we are the only people in the restaurant, and that it's tipping it down outside. It's not a pleasant day weather wise but we can't really complain as the weather has generally been way better than we anticipated
There's lots os art here , lots of art !!
